Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020.

Who we are

This website is operated by Island and Alpine Distilling Company Limited, trading as Island & Alpine Distilling Co ("we", "us", "our"), based in Pegasus, Canterbury, New Zealand. Our privacy officer is Anjana Premashantha. You can contact him about anything in this policy at anjana@iadistilling.co.nz.

What we collect

Trade enquiries. When you send us a trade enquiry, we collect your business name, contact name, email address, phone number, venue type, region and, if you choose to give it, your liquor licence number, and any message you include.

Business name, contact name, email address and phone number are required so we can respond to you. All other fields are optional. If you leave them out, we may need to ask you for more details before we can help.

Age confirmation. Our products are for people aged 18 and over. When you confirm your age to enter the site, a note is saved in your browser's session storage. It stays on your device, is cleared when you close your browser, and is not sent to us.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site. It collects information such as the pages you view, your device and browser type, your approximate location (city or region) and how you arrived at the site. It uses cookies and a randomly generated identifier. It does not tell us your name or contact details.

Information from other people. Sometimes we receive a trade contact's details from a distributor, industry partner or someone who refers you to us. When that happens, we handle your information as described in this policy, and we will let you know we hold it when we first contact you.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

How we use it

We use your information to respond to your enquiry, to set up and manage any trade relationship that follows (including orders, invoicing and account contact), to check that trade customers hold the licences needed to buy alcohol for resale, and to understand how the site is used so we can improve it.

We will only send you news or promotional emails if you have agreed to receive them. Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to run the site and our business. Netlify hosts this website and receives enquiry form submissions. Google provides Google Analytics. Our email provider delivers enquiries to our business inbox.

These providers store and process information on our behalf, and some of them do so outside New Zealand, including in the United States. We remain responsible for that information under the Privacy Act 2020.

We may also share your information if the law requires it, or with our professional advisers (such as our accountant or lawyer) where needed to run our business.

Cookies and analytics

Google Analytics uses cookies to tell visits apart and measure how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site will still work if you do.

How we keep it safe

This site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. Access to enquiry information is limited to the people in our business who need it. Our service providers use industry-standard security to protect the information they hold for us.

If a privacy breach happens that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for up to 24 months if they don't lead to a trade relationship, then delete them. If you become a trade customer, we keep your details for as long as the relationship continues and for up to 7 years afterwards, to meet our tax and record-keeping obligations.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email anjana@iadistilling.co.nz. We will respond within 20 working days.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information or your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
